About

Mae Marvelle Leroux (she/they) is a queer, neurodivergent artist and writer. She derives inspiration from the universe, nature, music, memories, and raw emotion. Their artwork is an exploration of the balance  between chaos and control.

Mae’s artwork is often an outlet she uses to help process trauma and emotions, this is particularly seen in her collage work. Their strong messages and emotions are clearly and powerfully communicated through a deconstructed view of their experiences. Mae utilizes a variety of mediums and techniques to create each collage. With so many intricate details, you’ll see something new each time you look at a piece.

Mae struggles with a condition called Dissociative Identity Disorder, a disorder developed as a result of severe and chronic childhood trauma. They like to create artwork with their alters to help them communicate as well as share and process the trauma they hold. Many of Mae’s  works are the result of deep despair, fear, frustration, anger, or  betrayal; while others are representations of the love and happiness and she seeks.

Mae’s art is a collection of emotions, memories, traumas, and desires expressed  through color and movement. Her work has been described as “controlled  chaos” and is perhaps a window into the artist’s psyche itself.

Mae currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon, United States.
